I’ve already shown some of the kitchen appliances I use. Now it’s time to show other products that help me cook and bake.

I’m a big fan of Joseph Joseph and this post will be focused on gadgets of this brand that I have in my kitchen. The twins make useful products that also have great design. The ones I have were all bought in the UK, but their site ships to Brazil. My favourites are:

Spiralizer
I’m vegetarian and I follow a low carb diet. So vegetable spaghetti, with zucchini or carrots, is something common here. This spiralizer makes that much easier. It has 3 different blades, is easy to use, doesn’t hurt my hands and works really well. It’s worth the investment.

Rolling pin
I like to bake biscuits and pies, so I need a good rolling pin. There are various types available: wood, metal, plastic, marble. The benefit of this one, which is made of wood, is limiting the thickness of the dough, making it uniform. That really helps when making biscuits, as they all bake equally.

Pastry mat
Goes well with the rolling pin and provides a clean surface to open dough. Additionally, it has a size guide, so I don’t need to guess how big the dough must be to cover the different baking trays.

Grater
I’ve had many traditional metal graters. Unfortunately, they all rust in time and since I often hurt myself using them, I throw them away before getting tetanus. I was looking for a good grater when I saw this in a store. It’s safer to use, has a comfortable grip, and a box that keeps what’s being grated contained, making less mess. Since it has a lid, it can be used to store it later.

Cheese slicer
This is another utensil I’ve bought and thrown away many times, either because it rusted or it’s no longer sharp enough, or only works with one type of cheese. This has a flat handle, which is much easier and comfortable to hold than the round metal ones and has two blades: one for soft cheeses and one for hard ones. And since it is smaller than most stainless-steel ones, it takes a lot less space.

Egg poacher
I’m not a fan of poached eggs, but my husband likes them. Let’s face it, they are hard to make. Without a proper gadget, I’d say almost impossible. The last poacher I got wasn’t deep enough, so it didn’t work. This one is to be used in the microwave oven. I haven’t tested it yet, but it seems simple enough.

How about you? Do you have a gadget you love and can’t live without? Tell me about it!
